Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to enhance its air defences. The first three manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish production lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Situations

The drones utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in actual battle and proved effective “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 defensive drones daily.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” after six people lost their lives and dozens wounded in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports on Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv stated its military had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted an oil refinery in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Restrictions Impact Moscow's Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets following last month’s sanctions from Western nations and failure of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after conclusive negotiations have been reached and required authorizations are secured,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. Zelenskyy would meet representatives from both chambers of parliament during his visit, an official announcement said.
