The tall defender Always dangerous from dead balls, typically, could serve as an alternative to Stones in defense instead of paired with him. A careless distribution in the second half almost led to a goal from Albania. 6

Nico O’Reilly A further confident showing by the youngster after his first cap against another side. Saka was unable to take the opportunity from a gorgeous touch over the opposing backline. The role is firmly his at this stage. Seven

The newcomer His maiden beginning in an England shirt. A bit sloppy in possession though his whipped corners caused problems. A handy tempo-setter for the boss to utilize versus defensive opponents. Shown a yellow for a poorly timed tackle. 6

Declan Rice Crosses from corners and set-plays were dangerous. Enjoyed freedom to move on the left only to be in an offside position when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Given a merited break after an hour. 6/10

The star midfielder Functioned in a forward role down the right and did plenty of defensive duties. Demonstrated flashes of quality and dragged a shot high. Substituted towards the end by Rogers, a fellow player, after receiving a caution. Seven

The winger Had the team's best chance of the first half, his effort well saved by the Albanian keeper. With Quansah holding position, he was forced to stretch the play down the right side although his balls into the box varied in quality. Replaced late in the match. 6

The captain The match-winner netting seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth strikes for his country. His first a typical close-range tap-in and the second a classy header following a clever run off his defender. At 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders in the upcoming tournament with him up top. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Struggled to get into the game out wide. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in from a teammate yet the keeper denied him. Rashford made much more of an impact when substituted. 5
