Soccer Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game victorious run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Family Experiences

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football team," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be quite close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home losses so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their past two games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road win this campaign came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have impressed a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their last four matches.

A family member told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have got plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of last month.

However I am not do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
