US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series like "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in LA this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.
"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his loved ones shared in a announcement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous well-known programs, such as:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.
The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
