Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, currently occupies roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won England's top flight in the previous campaign, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would welcome the notion that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I refuse to lead a different club in England. So that means in case it's my former club...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding the specific conditions would have to unfold to bring him back to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to interviews repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere at the club. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled for example.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended for his successor, crediting him due to the changes that took the title last term. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches in all competitions following significant transfers, but he rubbished the idea it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly about the death of Jota, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences for the team. The forward lost his life in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond the player himself, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this emotionally is challenging. Unbearable.”
