Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
