Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old presenter was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.
The purpose of the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a building in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had devoted time at the property managing the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape showed a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but collapsed across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the attack.
Important clues, like cartridges, were recovered from the location.

Officials are asking members of the public who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the attack, and police have been following their trail to determine their location," stated a police chief.

His sister, Nicole Stock, expressed the relatives are devastated to understand the tragedy.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about subjects not many people were willing to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the community to avoid sharing explicit content from the scene, saying this was an incredibly difficult time, above all for Stock's children.
