Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
